One budget can be established for each fiscal year. When creating a budget for a given fiscal year, numbers are entered for each branch or division combination. Established budgets are maintained from the Budgets Search List and Budget screens. The *Budgets Search List* screen is available to users assigned the *Edit Budget* permission. The *Budgets Search List* screen behaves like other search lists allowing you to display and filter information to provide the most value in various situations. Note that users can only see budgets listed in the search list for which they have branch access. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/5942a8d7-f3b1-4919-bdfa-d477d8498fe3/Images/Documentation/image-1659631791221.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-27T08%3A44%3A27Z&se=2026-10-27T09%3A44%3A27Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=%2FeQvfpTL%2B6JZXt8a8b%2B9MEkZJGgYEqt6WhyrMWmYM7w%3D) The default configuration for the search list is to group branches by budget year. Drilling into one of the branches for a budget year shows the Budget screen displaying that branch’s budget for the specified year. Once on the *Budget* screen, you can navigate between budgets for the available branches. The *Budget* screen is displayed from the Budgets Search List Screen when you click the *New Budget* icon or click an existing budget from the list to view or edit. The *Budget* screen enables you to enter numbers that define the financial budget for a fiscal year. The screen enables you to display the budget for each of the branches one-by-one**a**. On each branch display, the screen is broken into sections – one for each of the defined divisions**b** and a summary section at the bottom for the branch**c** as shown in the image below. The values entered into the grid for the annual budget become available in the *Rolling Budget Report* so that you can track progress vs. budget during the year. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/5942a8d7-f3b1-4919-bdfa-d477d8498fe3/Images/Documentation/image-1659634924951.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-27T08%3A44%3A27Z&se=2026-10-27T09%3A44%3A27Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=%2FeQvfpTL%2B6JZXt8a8b%2B9MEkZJGgYEqt6WhyrMWmYM7w%3D) To complete the budget, enter anticipated revenue and cost for each division, and expected overhead cost for the branch. The following table highlights some important screen elements. | Screen Element | Description | | --- | --- | | Branch**a** | Enables you to switch between branches currently displayed on the screen. | | Gross Margin**d** | Read-only. *Gross margin* (both $ and %) is calculated based on *earned revenue* – not *invoiced revenue*. | | *Back* Icon | Returns to the *Budget Search List* screen without saving changes. To save changes, click the *Save* icon before clicking the *Back* icon. | | *Save* Icon | Clicking this icon saves the changes the user has made to the budget. Clicking *Save* leaves the user on the *Budget* screen so that they can save periodically while they are entering the budget without leaving the screen. |
