Working with segments in Marketing Pro
This section explains how to use transactional and marketing segments in Marketing Pro to target specific groups of contacts for your campaigns.
Segments are groups of contacts built from your Aspire data. Marketing Pro uses these segments to determine which contacts receive your messages. You define a segment by applying criteria: pieces of data about a contact, job, or property that filter who is included in the group. For example, a segment can be based on a job's status, a customer's division, or an opportunity's tags. Segments fall into two categories: transactional and marketing.
Transactional segments
Transactional segments are used for follow-up communications tied to specific jobs or proposals. For example, you can automatically send a message to customers who have an open estimate, asking them to review it. Or, you can send a thank you message to customers after a job is completed, with a link to leave a review.
A segment is considered transactional if it meets one of the following criteria from your Aspire data:
- Open Estimates
- Estimate status includes Delivered
- Last Modified Date X days in the past
- Jobs Completed
- Estimate status includes Won
- Job status includes Completed
These are the minimum requirements for a segment to be transactional. You can add more criteria to a transactional segment to refine it further, such as filtering by Division or Opportunity Tags. Adding these attributes lets you target your communications more precisely.
Marketing segments
Marketing segments include all other criteria and are typically used for promotions, upselling, or general marketing campaigns. For example, you can create a marketing segment to promote seasonal specials or upsell a maintenance plan.
Marketing segments provide the flexibility to promote services, increase customer spend, and reach prospects who do not have an immediate job in progress. Using these segments helps you maximize customer spend and drive new revenue opportunities for your business.
For more detail on creating and managing segments, go to Key Workflows > Audiences > Segments in the Marketing Pro Knowledge Base.
ServiceTitan’s definition of transactional segments differs slightly from Aspire’s. If you’re referencing the ServiceTitan Marketing Pro Knowledge Base, keep in mind that Aspire follows its own criteria.
