Account Lockout
💭What’s new?
User account lockout aims to bolster security and safeguard against potential hacking by locking a user account after ten failed login attempts using the incorrect password. Once the account is locked, the user
can get system administrator assistance or unlock it by resetting their password.
How does this work?
Lockout - failed email/password
When attempting to log in with email/password, the number of times out of ten a failed password has been attempted is tracked and displayed on the login screen.
Once ten failed attempts are maxed out, you will see an error message stating your account has been locked. A system admin must be contacted, or the password needs to be reset, and the option to enter your email address and password will be grayed out.
Lockout - PIN
- If a user has already authenticated their account by signing in using their email and password once before, ten consecutive failed login attempts using their PIN will lock the user out of their account.
- If multiple users sign in with their PIN on a single device, failed login attempts will not count against the users.
System Admin: unlocking a user account
If a user reaches out to you because they are locked out of their account, you can manually unlock a locked user account by following these steps:
- Go to the User Management section of the Administration menu.
- Select Users.
- Choose the highlight Unlock text next to the user account entry.
- Confirm or Cancel the action.
- After selecting Confirm, the account lock will be removed, and you can let the user know they can sign in using their current password or reset the password if preferred.
- You can also remove the lock on the account by resetting the PIN and Password of the user. Once you have saved a new PIN and Password for the user, their account will be automatically unlocked.
User unlocking account
As an Aspire account user, if you get locked out of your account due to unsuccessful login attempts due to the incorrect password, reset your password by following these steps:
- Select Forgot Password.
- Enter your Email Address and Company.
- Open the reset link sent to you by Aspire via email.
- Create a new password and confirm it.
- Once this is done, you can log in using the new password.
