Overview
Copying an opportunity lets you create a new opportunity on a property using information from an existing opportunity. This saves time when you need to rebid a job or correct an opportunity that's already in progress.
Things to know
You can only copy an opportunity when there are no revisions or edits in progress on the Estimate.
If you don't select any checkboxes on the Copy Opportunity screen, Aspire creates the new Estimate based on the original Opportunity's services and items.
Copying an Opportunity is different from using an Opportunity Template. For details, see the Copying an Opportunity vs. using a template section.
Requirements
To access the Opportunities screen and copy an Opportunity, you need the Edit Opportunities and View Opportunities added to your user role.
To learn more about opportunities, read Restricting Property and Opportunity Access with User Role Permissions.
Steps
Copy an opportunity
Follow these steps to copy an Opportunity to a Property.
From the Opportunities screen and select the opportunity you want to copy.
Select the three-dot icon to open the action menu, then select Copy.
On the Copy Opportunity screen, select the Property from the Copy To Property menu.
Select any checkbox options you want to apply to the new opportunity. For details on each option, see the Update checkbox options section.
Select Save to create the new Opportunity.

Update checkbox options
The following options on the Copy Opportunity screen control how Aspire creates the new Opportunity.
Checkbox Name | Action | Important to know before using |
|---|---|---|
Update Takeoffs | Select this option to have Aspire search the Property for takeoffs and apply those values to the Items or Kits in the Estimate. |
|
Update Costs | Select this option when you want to base the new Estimate on current Item Catalog costs and not on the original opportunity costs. |
|
Update Prices | Select this option when your system markups have changed since the original Opportunity was created and you want to use the new markups. |
|
Update Kits | Select this option to have Aspire update Items and production rates for all services based on the Kits defined in the Item Catalog. This recalculates prices. |
|
Copy Default Routes | Select this option to have Aspire copy all default routing and sequence numbers to the new Opportunity. |
|
Clear Start and End Date | Select this option to have Aspire clear the Start and End dates on the new Opportunity, leaving both fields blank. |

When to copy an opportunity
Use the copy feature in these common scenarios:
Rebidding a lost proposal: If a customer declined a proposal in the past but is now interested, you can copy the original Opportunity (even one with a Lost status), update the pricing, and send the new proposal.
Correcting an existing opportunity: If an Opportunity needs significant correction after work has started and you don't want to create a change order, copy the Opportunity, make your corrections, then use the Swap Work Ticket Costs feature to transfer costs. After swapping and verifying, you can delete the old Opportunity.
Copying an opportunity vs. using a template
Copying an opportunity and using an opportunity template are similar but suited for different situations:
Copy an opportunity when you're rebidding a lost job with new pricing. This creates a new Opportunity on your desired Property using the original Opportunity's data.
Use an opportunity template when you're starting a new, repeatable job. Templates save time by applying existing labor, material, and travel hours from a pre-built template.
