Swapping As Needed Opportunity Services

The ability to swap the “as needed” service associated with an existing ticket is useful for managing snow work tickets. It is driven by the common practice of setting up range billing in which, for snow opportunity estimates, you set up multiple as-needed services representing costs for different ranges of snow coverage (i.e. 1-3”, 4-7”, etc.). When the snow starts to fall, you might create as-needed tickets for 1-3” snow. As the snow event develops, it might turn into a 4-7” event which has different parameters driving cost and price. The Swap As Needed Services option on the Work Tickets Search List screen allows you to change the service associated with the existing work ticket taking on the new service’s associated cost and pricing. Note that the target service must be listed in the estimate for the opportunity.

Supposing that several snow plowings for 1-3” snow had been scheduled and completed on January 5, 2020, and that later forecasts indicated there was actually a 5” snowfall, you could go to the Work Tickets Search List screen, and filter work tickets to see those scheduled for January 5 whose service display name contained “1-3.” 

Next, on the Work Tickets Search List screen, select the identified work tickets and select the Swap As Needed Service option from the Bulk Action menu. This will display the Swap As Needed Services screen from which you can choose the service that should replace the original on the selected work tickets and click the Save icon. Depending on the search criteria, the work tickets may disappear from the list, but if you change the search criteria to relocate them, you will see that the price has been updated to align with the newly chosen service.
